How To Turn Off Automatic Noise Suppression

Enabling original sound allows Zoom users to turn off the automatic background noise suppression setting within a Zoom meeting.

Background noise suppression is the standard mode for Zoom meetings and suppresses any non-speaking sounds. Original sound is best for meetings in which instruments, singing, or other non-speaking sounds need to be heard.

IMPORTANT

Before you proceed, ensure that you have a personal or business Zoom account and are logged in.

How to Set Up Audio For Voice Lessons: Mobile Device

STEP 1

Join Meeting

STEP 2

Connect to audio by selecting "Wi-Fi or Cellular Data".

STEP 3

In the top left corner of the screen select the left facing arrow. This will

return you to the page headed "Meetings".

STEP 4

At the bottom of the page, select "More".

STEP 5

Under "Settings", select "Meetings".

STEP 6

Toggle “Use Original Audio” to turn on (green).

STEP 7

Tap on the meeting window to rejoin meeting.

STEP 8

At bottom of screen, scroll to the right and select “More”.

STEP 9

Select “Enable Original Sound”.

Please Note:

Steps 1- 7 only need to be completed once.

Steps 8 & 9 need to be repeated every time you join a meeting!

STEP 1

Join Meeting

STEP 2

Connect to audio by selecting "Join with Computer Audio".

STEP 3

At bottom of the meeting screen, select the upwards arrow next to the "Mute" icon.

STEP 4

From the Audio pop-up menu, select "Audio Settings".

STEP 5

From the Audio Profile list:

Select "Original sound for musicians".
Select "Echo cancellation".

STEP 6

Exit the "Settings" pop-up menu to return to the meeting screen.

STEP 7

In the top left corner of the screen, click on "Original sound for musicians" to change it from off to on.

Please Note:

Steps 1- 6 only need to be completed once.

Step 7 needs to be repeated every time you join a meeting!
